Triumph is one of the most iconic and revered names in the history of motorcycling. Established in Coventry in 1885, by the start of the 1900s the company had made its first motorcycle. It began a continuous production run under various ownership until its eventual closure in 1983 before its rebirth in the early 1990s. In 1937 the Edward Turner-designed Speed Twin was released, launching a range of Triumph twins that epitomised British motorcycles in the post-war years. Many believe the various Bonneville, Tiger and Trophy models to be the ultimate versions of the classic British vertical twin, with the 1973 models being the last of the Meriden-made bikes before the ill-fated co-operative took over in 1974.
This Tiger 650 has been part of a small private collection and is being offered in what appears to be a quite original and standard condition, with receipts included in the sale to suggest the wheels were rebuilt with stainless-steel spokes in 2013 and documenting a £1,450 overhaul in 2019 which included new tyres. Stood since then, it will need recommissioning before use and comes supplied with the aforementioned receipts, a genuine workshop manual, a Haynes manual and a V5C.
