World’s biggest production pick-up truck roars to auction

10/06/2024

  • Super-sized hauler believed to be sole example in the UK
  • Generously equipped, with just 16,000 miles from new
  • Head-turner estimated between £40,000 - £50,000 when it’s offered for sale on 19th June

If you’re a shy and retiring type then this pick-up – said to be the world’s biggest production pick-up – is definitely not for you. But if you’re the type who enjoys plenty of attention and probably has a smaller vehicle for those runs to the supermarket or school gates, then this International CXT pick-up could be just for you.

Heading to H&H Classic’s auction at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford, on 19th June, the striking and immensely fun pick-up is estimated to fetch between £40,000 - £50,000.

Big in dimensions and big on torque, the CXT offers the fixtures and fittings found in the plushest modern pick-ups but scales up the size. Its four-door, crew-cab set-up means plenty of space for friends and family while the pick-up bed means most loads are easily accommodated.

And while its dimensions are almost on a par with a true Stateside highway hauler, inside it features leather seats, wood trim, feet-cosseting carpet, rear seat television (with DVD player), sound systems and a fold-out rear seat that converts to a bed.

“This CXT is without doubt the biggest lot in our Duxford sale and it’s certainly not a case of blink and you’ll miss it,” says H&H’s Paul Cheetham. “For the extrovert who needs a powerful, comfortable and unmissable towing vehicle, nothing beats this International, but I’d recommend measuring the driveway first as it’s big!”

A big pick-up needs a big engine: in this case, a 7.6 litre turbocharged six-cylinder unit with five-speed automatic transmission, making it ideal for towing. Barely run-in, it has covered less than 16,000 miles from new.

First imported into the UK in 2015, it has been in the current vendor’s private collection since 2017. During that time, it has been used for several proms and steam rallies where it attracts considerable amounts of attention.

Fun seekers and collectors looking to inspect the CXT can do so at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford, from midday on Tuesday 18th June. The pick-up will go under the hammer at 1pm on the following day and those wishing to make a bid on this fabulous machine can do so in person, online, by telephone or by leaving a commission bid.
