Triumph is the largest surviving British motorcycle manufacturer but it hasn’t been an easy path for the manufacturer. The British bike industry collapsed in the 1970's and by the early 1980s Triumph went into receivership. British businessman John Bloor bought the name and manufacturing rights with his “new” Triumph company re-starting production in the early 1990s. They are now re-established as one of the world’s most desirable and best-selling brands. Reviving one of the classic names from the 1960s, the four cylinder Daytona 1200 was launched in 1993 as a comfy sports tourer but still putting out around 150 BHP with 85 ft/lbs of torque at 8000 RPM.
This Daytona 1200 has been part of a large and fascinating collection of bikes ranging from the 1980s up until the early 2000s. The vendor has enjoyed searching out examples of more or less all of the bikes he either owned or wanted in the day, but after amassing over 30 assorted models from a Honda MT50 through to a couple of Bimotas he's decided to downsize his collection. The bike is presented in good standard and original condition fitted with colour matched single seat converter. Last run about 5 years ago it will need some recommissioning before use and comes supplied with a current V5C.
