Launched in 1961, the Mini Cooper was renowned for its roadholding and excellent power-to-weight ratio which enabled it to compete with, and often beat, larger-capacity rivals especially on tight, twisting circuits. Indeed, Warwick Banks won the European Saloon Car Championship outright in 1964 driving Ken Tyrell's Mini Cooper. Finished in Red, this competition Mini is understood to have begun life to RHD specification before emigrating to Canada where it was converted to LHD and campaigned very successfully in endurance races. The diminutive saloon's specification includes: plumbed-in fire extinguisher, perspex windows, roll cage, race seat and harness (most likely out-of-date), uprated suspension and brakes, fuel cell, twin facet fuel pumps, gear reduction starter motor and Mallory distributor. It is understood to boasts a 1275 cc engine with DCOE 40 carburettor and 3 branch manifold. An ideal basis for next year's season.
