Rare Mobiloil 'Pegasus' Pictorial Enamel Sign

A rare & highly attractive single-sided die-cut shield shaped enamel on steel advertising sign, as produced by Mobiloil around 1940 to advertise their oil products. The sign features red pictorial Pegasus insignia above blue/red text reading 'Mobiloil Vacuum Oil Company', all over the white base enamel .The piece does feature some light enamel loss & rusting (primarily to the outer edge), however this doesn't detract from the overall visual appeal of this imposing piece. The reverse side is enamelled in black & features some enamel loss & scratches. The sign has retained a great gloss & is particularly eye-catching. Very seldom-seen in this size & most attractive. Approx. 50x48cm
