Acquired by the vendor as `a kit of parts' within the last decade or so, this Daimler is believed but not warranted to date from 1937. Having undertaken the 15hp's mechanical reassembly and rewiring himself, the seller entrusted its re-bodying to a local hobbyist coachbuilder. Finished in Blue over Black with Blue vinyl upholstery, the resultant two-door tourer coachwork has been nicely crafted. A long-stroke OHV unit displacing circa 2.2 litres, the Daimler's straight-six engine is allied to four-speed pre-selector transmission. Riding on all-round semi-elliptic leaf-sprung suspension, the tourer also boasts four-wheel drum brakes and a full-length tonneau. Sadly, the project's completion coincided with the vendor having his driving licence suspended due to failing eyesight. As such he has had little impetus to get the Daimler's original registration number - `BTE 73' - reinstated by the DVLA. Offered for sale without documentation and in need of recommissioning, this handsome four-seater tourer is nonetheless worthy of inspection.
