Lot details Registration No: CVA470J Chassis No: XAD2/356306A Mot Expiry: June 2013
This smart-looking Mini is understood to have been purchased by a classic car magazine as a restoration project. However, the task was never pursued, causing `CVA 470J' to send the next 25 years in dry storage before finally being recommissioned approximately three years ago. The rear sub-frame was replaced, the front one refurbished and new brake lines, calipers, master cylinder and steering rack fitted, together with adjustable tie rods and bottom arms to allow the optimum suspension geometry to be achieved. The engine was extensively overhauled by Minispeed, including the conversion of the cylinder head to run on unleaded fuel. The dynamo has been replaced by an alternator and the standard exhaust with an RC40 stainless steel one. The twin HS carburettors were overhauled and tuned by Wood & Pickett. The 10-inch Rostyle wheels were refurbished and shod with Yokohama A-008 165/70 tyres.
The body was stripped and repainted by Walton Coachworks of Kingswood and the underside is said to be "every bit as good as the top side". The interior features the original PVC-covered seats, door cards, parcel shelf, steering wheel, switches, and instruments etc, all complemented by a new carpet set. Thought but not warranted to have covered circa 44,500 from new, `CVA 470J' is ready to enjoy and MOT'd until June 2013.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
