Nicknamed `Silver Streaks' because of the distinctive multi-groove chrome strip that bisected their bonnets, mid- / late-1930s Pontiacs were awash with art deco detailing. The pricier of the two six-cylinder ranges available for 1939, the `Deluxe' featured a 120-in wheelbase and 222.7ci (3.6-litre) sidevalve engine producing 85bhp and 161lbft. This rare right-hand drive example is understood to have been supplied new via H.R. Owen of London but not road registered until March 1943 due to the intervention of WW2. Apparently laid-up for a period, `FYO 541' was re-registered for road use on 24th August 1983 and featured in a motoring magazine some eleven years later (a copy of which forms part of the accompanying history file). Acquired by its last registered keeper in 2000, the Pontiac is rated by the vendor as `good for year', while research leads him to believe that the Convertible is the only one of its type in the country (and possibly Europe).
