Lot details Registration No: OFJ882M Chassis No: LD31793BW Mot Expiry: Nov 2013
Like the Triumph 2000 it was developed from, the Stag was styled by Italian maestro Giovanni Michelotti and featured the monocoque construction, fully independent suspension, disc/drum brakes, power-assisted rack and pinion steering, and driveline of that Saloon. The powerplant, however, was an all-new OHC V8 of 3000cc capacity.
This right-hand drive 1974 Stag is understood to have been a one family example (father to son) until acquired by the vendor earlier this year - he is also satisfied that the indicated 20,000 miles is genuine, and is only parting with `OFJ 882M' so soon, because it is "too good to use as intended". In recommissioning the car he: had it Waxoyled; fitted four new tyres, new front discs and pads and an electronic ignition; had the original steel wheels and trims and a set of Stag alloys refurbished, and a full service carried out. He describes the Triumph as "totally original and never welded". He considers the bodywork and White paintwork to be "extremely good", along with the Blue ambla trim and V8 engine. He describes the automatic gearbox as "original". It comes complete with an extensive history file, including the original bill of sale, service book etc., original Pye radio, high torque starter motor, hard top and MOT until November 2013.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
