Lot details Registration No: LDV589W Chassis No: XC2W2657235A Mot Expiry: April 2013
The square jawed Mini Clubman Saloon was originally penned by ex-Ford stylist Roy Haynes as a replacement for the Riley Elf and Wolseley Hornet, while the Clubman Estate was slated to succeed the Countryman and Traveller. However, a change of plan saw both round and square nosed Minis produced concurrently until the Clubman range gave way to the Metro.
The Clubman Estate on offer dates from 1980, the last year of production. It is finished in Java Green and trimmed in Black and Cream half leather. It is powered by the larger 1098cc engine couple to a four-speed manual gearbox. The vendor informs us that it has recently benefited from some recent light body restoration prior to a full respray with all glass and external components removed. The original seats have been supplanted by a pair of new 96 Cooper Monaco recliners. The brightwork has been replaced as necessary, a complete free-flow exhaust system (including manifold) fitted, along with new petrol tank, battery, radiator, Kenlowe fan and CD player. 'LDV 589W' is now described by the vendor as having "excellent" bodywork, paintwork and engine, "very good" interior trim and "good" four-speed manual gearbox. The Mini currently displays an unwarranted 77,692 miles and comes complete with an MOT valid into April next year.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
