Ariel introduced a five model range when civilian production resumed in late 1945 consisting of the 598cc VB side valve model, the NG "de luxe" 350cc over head valve machine derived from the machine built by the company for the forces during the war together with a 499cc version coded the VG and a pair of sporting "Redhunter" overhead valve singles, the NH and VH in 346cc and 499cc displacements respectively. The two Redhunters benefited from a larger carburettor resulting in greater performance. Later in the year the Square Four became (theoretically) available again. The machines used a rigid frame and girder forks, however for 1947 all were offered with telescopic forks and the option of the Anstey link rear suspension system, although this appears to have been confined to the Square Four and Redhunters in reality. The machines continued with only detail changes until 1951 when the two "de luxe" singles were dropped leaving the Redhunters as the only option for single cylinder enthusiasts. The next major revision came in 1953 when the Redhunters adopted a pivoted fork frame and in 1955 they were fitted with an Amal Monobloc carburettor, further revisions occurred for the 1956 season with the introduction of a headlamp cowl and full width alloy hubs for the two Redhunters.
