Lot details Registration No: MUF 422 Chassis No: A.3010781.HS0 Mot Expiry: Aug 2013
Launched in 1948, the Sunbeam Talbot 90 replaced the company's now outmoded 2 Litre model and was notable for its streamlined body with flowing front wings and integral headlamps. The underpinnings were, however, more familiar, the chassis being a wide track version of the pre-war Sunbeam-Talbot Ten one, with leaf sprung beam axles front and rear. Power came from a Humber-derived 1944cc OHV four-cylinder unit that was coupled to a four-speed manual gearbox with column-mounted change. The MKII introduced in 1950 sported independent front suspension by coil springs, while the engine capacity was increased to 2267cc, thereby raising the output to 70bhp. The front of the body was also modified, with the headlamps raised by three inches and the driving lamps replaced by intake grilles. The newcomer was available as a four-door Saloon or two-door Drophead Coupe, and one tested by Motor achieved a 0-60mph time of 21.4 seconds and a top speed of 84.5mph. Some 5,493 MKIIs were made all told.
This 1953 Talbot 90 features Grey bodywork teamed with Red leather upholstery. The vendor currently considers its bodywork, paintwork, engine and manual gearbox as all being in "very good" condition, while he rates the interior leatherwork as "worn but still good". The Sunbeam is MOT'd until August next year.
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle comes with Service History including many old MOTs.
