Although the narrow case 175 Sport proved to be a considerable success for Ducati following its release in 1956, the opportunity was taken to improve the model for the 1959 season. The engines bore was increased by 5mm to 67mm resulting in a swept volume approaching 200cc. The new model, named the Elite was to become one of the most highly regarded models ever produced by Ducati. Developing 18bhp at 7,500 rpm and weighing only 111kg it had a top speed of 84 mph, comparable to many of the traditional big singles being produced in the UK at the time, and was endowed with startlingly looks.
This pretty example of a Mototrans built machine has been restored to a high standard and is well presented in the polychromatic red and gold livery.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
