Lot details
Registration No: SV 7707
Chassis No: AZ21452
Mot Expiry: Sept 2019

- Originally supplied to a banker in Australia

- Very useable example owned by the vendor since 2000, detailed history file

- Engine overhaul c.2013 by Alan King, rear axle overhaul c.2017 by The Humber Workshop

This handsome righthand drive four-seat vintage Tourer ('Mathilda') was purchased new by a Brisbane banker and immediately driven from Perth to his home - a mighty impressive journey for the period, much of which was on dirt roads. The Hillman had four more Australian owners before being repatriated in 1999 and acquired by the vendor in 2000. Restored in the 1960s and again in 1995, it has enjoyed ongoing maintenance that includes an engine overhaul by Alan King (2013), clutch overhaul (2016), rear axle overhaul (2017) by the Humber Workshop and skimming of the cylinder head (2018). Finished in Beige with Brown leather, it has a full all-weather hood (mohair), side screens, hood bag and full tonneau cover by Mr Thompsett of Cambridge. Considered by the vendor to have 'very good' 1953cc side-valve engine and interior, 'good' four-speed manual transmission and paintwork, and 'average' bodywork, this rare and eminently usable example is offered with an extensive history file including: correspondence, instruction book, articles from period magazines, notes on previous owners and photocopy parts list etc.

PLEASE NOTE: The vendor advises a spare engine block and camshaft are included with the lot and that further spares may also be available by separate treaty. We are further advised the car has developed an an oil leak from the rear axle which requires monitoring.
