P&M, later Panther were at the forefront of motorcycle development during the pioneer years, producing machines that employed the canted single cylinder ohv engine as a stressed frame member, a design characteristic that would continue until production of the big singles ceased in the mid sixties.
This Panther is a 1963 model 120 650cc. single sloper engined version which looks to be in excellent, recently restored condition. It's gleaming black paintwork set off nicely by the distinctive polished alloy crankcases, separate gearbox, long graceful chrome plated exhaust pipe and silencer, the bike is described by the entrant as 'all good' on the sale particulars. Built tough in Yorkshire, as is verified by the considerable number of survivors, the Panther was always regarded as a quality machine available at a reasonable price, a sentiment that is as true today as ever it was.
