Moto Guzzi was established in 1921 by three friends from the Italian Air Corps and is Europe’s oldest motorcycle manufacturer in continuous production, based in the same factory in Mandello del Lario overlooking Lake Como ever since. The Moto Guzzi Nuovo Falcone is a very useable 500cc horizontal single cylinder design manufactured from 1968 until 1974 as a tough and durable military motorcycle, featuring a low revving reliable engine with solidly “over-engineered” frame and cycle parts.
This 1969 machine has been repainted in a gloss Green rather than the original matt finish with Silver frame and panniers. The paintwork is very good and mechanically it has been well maintained with records/service history and receipts provided together with copies of the workshop manual, rider’s manual, and parts book. Wheel chrome has some rust pitting, but all other bright work, chrome and alloy is in very good order. Indicated “mileage” 9,138km although this speedometer failed in December 2021 and a brand new original speedometer and cable has recently been fitted (the previous speedometer will be included). The bike has been enjoyed for several years by the current owner and used for classic Moto Guzzi and VMCC events during this time and proved to be a leisurely, comfortable, and reliable machine. For ease of use it has a 'Scottoiler' chain lubricator, a touring screen and permanently mounted steel panniers with hinged lids. The previous owner fitted a BMW dual seat and a “twin spark plug” ignition system. It has new points and the Dellorto carburettor has been overhauled and during current ownership has been well maintained with a full top end rebuild including new piston/barrel and new valves, valve guides and valve springs plus a new exhaust pipe and a “Goldstar” silencer. Some electrical wiring refurbishment has been carried out including a new battery, ancillary riding lights, and heated grips. The clutch plates and springs have been replaced and the front forks fully overhauled with new springs. Tyres are Avon Road Rider Mk2. A rare and interesting bike that's ready to go for a summer of rallies and shows and comes with a current V5C.
