Audi developed the four-wheel drive concept in 1977 and it was first tested and proven in rallying by the Group B homologated cars which took the world by storm. They subsequently used the system for general road going cars and the sports coupe of the 1980's was indeed one of the prettiest of all of the cars that would stick to the road like glue.
This particular example was only with its original owner for less than a year until 1986 when it was purchased by its last owner and kept as a third car. It has had very little use as a result and has always been kept in a heated garage and realistically treated as a classic car most of its life. This must be the reason that it is in such excellent original condition today. It has completed a warranted 41750 miles from new and has the 2226cc five-cylinder petrol engine and the manual five-speed gearbox and is described as being in very good condition throughout.
It is currently tested and taxed until next year and is only very reluctantly for sale because the private collector, who has three cars in the auction, has lost his storage facility.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
