Bultacos first pure scrambler resulted form the liaison between the Rickman brothers and the Spanish factory. The Rickman brothers had become the British importers for the Spanish firm and had ridden the Sherpa s in competition in Spain. At their suggestion a 250cc version of the single cylinder Bultaco engine was developed to be fitted in the Metisse frame, giving birth to the Metisse Pursang. These machines were followed by the Pursang Mk 1 which was a wholly Spanish built version of the Metisse Pursang. 1967 saw the introduction of the Pursang Mk 2 which now featured cycle parts designed in house. The Mk3 and 4 that followed featured only detail changes establishing the pattern of development that Bultaco would employ from then on, incorporating developments proven by the works bikes into the following seasons production scramblers.
The Mk 10 series machines introduced at the end of 1976 were very similar to the Mk 9 versions of the previous year in respect of the motor and chassis but incorporated some significant improvements aimed at improving durability. Roller bearings replaced the ball bearing on the flywheel side of the crankshaft, an improved connecting rod, stronger gearbox, revised exhaust system and new primary gear ratios were adopted as was a new front brake and hub and shock absorbers.
This example of the 250cc Mk 10 is presented to a very high standard in the red livery employed at the time having been restored.
