The BSA Rocket Gold Star was produced for two seasons only, entering the lists in 1962. The new machine combined the well proven A10 Super Rocket engine with the equally well proven Gold Star chassis to produce a sporting twin par excellence. It is somewhat ironic that the two major components the constituted the RGS were both effectively obsolete, the A10 engine having already been replaced by the A65 power egg and with the Goldie coming to the end of its production life in 1963. The new model quickly established itself with both clubmen and coffee shop racers, both group appreciating the extensive list of racing goodies offered as an option. Today original Rocket Goldie's are highly sought after commanding prices far in excess of the sum of the parts, consequently replicas and evocations built to varying standards have become part of the classic bike landscape.
This machine is built around a standard A series pivoted fork frame and equipped with a BSA/Triumph group twin leading shoe front brake. The fuel tank has been finished in the same style as the standard steel item fitted to an RGS and chromium plated mudguards have been used. The swinging arm and rear "crinkly" hub are of the type used by an RGS. Alloy rims and a siamesed exhaust system with a Goldie style silencer contribute to the machines looks. The engine was rebuilt during the restoration, which took place during 2010 and the machine is offered with a Swansea V5C.
