We are grateful to the vendor for the following description:
“I always loved these bikes in the 1960s, when I was a teenager but couldn’t afford one at the time. I purchased the bike approximately 5 years ago and during that period it has been lovingly restored. It is an exceptional example. This machine will make someone very proud and will bring much enjoyment to its new owner, rekindling the heydays of the Ace Café in the 1960s. There are quite a number of replicas on the market, however, for all intents and purposes this is a Rocket Gold Star in all but name, even down to the frame detail itself. Described by a former VMCC judge as ‘an A1 bike, with work carried out to the highest possible standard.’
The bike has the correct Amal 389/12 carburettor. Along with the Eddie Dow front fork damper upgrade. Precision engineer Robert Thomas of Partsmade, has fitted an SRM billet high-capacity oil pump, along with stainless steel oil pressure indicator button. Other points to note, Partsmade has also fitted the oil feed cut-off tap which has a built-in microswitch to the magneto, thus isolating the ignition until such a time the oil feed is restored (for safety reasons). This feature overcomes any issues with wet-sumping, if the bike is not used over long periods of time.
The magneto has been rebuilt by a specialist. The machine is fitted with a billet valve lifter to lower the compression to ease initial start-up. This item was designed made and fitted by Partsmade. Should the new owner decide to remove this feature then the original rocker cover is included in this sale. Also included is the RGS original yoke along with the headlight loop stays. The yoke was changed from another BSA model for security reasons because it has a built-in lock facility and looks pretty much identical to the RGS yoke. The wheels have been rebuilt with new bearings and polished stainless rims and spokes from Central Wheel. Regarding the instrumentation (speedo / rev counter), these have been restored and recalibrated by a specialist, leaving the original mileage from my purchase intact.”
The current Vendor of this BSA Rocket Gold Star replica has spent many, many thousands on its recreation. Every receipt is on file for parts, paint, chroming, stainless nuts and bolts, and much more. There’s also an SRM oil pump and pressure relief valve. The list is endless for all the work and parts. Presented in ‘good order and running very well’. It is offered complete with an original top yoke and some sundry items. A complete and large file with a current V5C accompanies.
