The Austin Metro was introduced in October 1980 with the Vanden Plas being added to the range in April 1982. It was powered by the 'A' series 1275cc 60bhp engine with either a 4-speed all-synchromesh manual or optional 4-speed automatic transmission. The VDP featured hydragas suspension, rack and pinion steering and servo-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes. Externally the Vanden Plas received bronze-tinted glass, laminated windscreen, bright inserts to the front and rear screen rubbers, black wrap-around bumpers and a bright finished front grille surround with grey central bars. It also incorporated bright finished door and tailgate handles, twin door mirrors, coachlines with 'VP' motifs on each rear wing, glass tilting/removeable sunroof, locking fuel filler cap and special black hubcaps with VP motifs and bright trim rings.

This Metro Vanden Plas was manufactured in 1985 and supplied new by Cheshunt Motor Company in Hertfordshire, being first registered on the 1^st of August 1985. Fitted with the 1275cc straight-four engine with a four-speed manual transmission, the Metro is finished in Arum white and is thought to be the only five-door manual Arum white car surviving. With Caramel and Bitter Chocolate interior upholstery, the Metro has six former keepers and has covered only 66,440 miles from new.

Offered from a private collection, the Metro is accompanied by a large history file that comprises many past MOT certificates, a large collection of invoices and book pack. The book pack includes the stamped service book which includes nineteen entries. Fitted with the cross-spoke alloy wheels, the Austin has benefitted from an engine, suspension and brakes overhaul in 2017, with the additions of a new clutch and bodywork remediation. Also provided with a new water pump in 2018.
