Lot details Registration No: UX 9766 Chassis No: 366915 Mot Expiry: Exempt
The vendor has owned 'UX 9766' for no less than 47 years and even employed it as his wedding car. Its two-seater Doctor's Coupe body (with dickey seat) and 1.5 litre four-cylinder engine were evidently restored at the time of purchase, while the Dynastart has been replaced in more recent times. He regards this apparently very original example as having "fair" bodywork, "fair/poor" Cream over Black paintwork, "average/poor" Red vinyl trim, but says the side-valve engine is "on the button and runs well", and describes the three-speed manual gearbox as "good". The Morris is expected to have a fresh MOT by the time of the sale and a quantity of related spares will be made available to the purchaser. William Morris's sturdy and affordable Cowley and Oxford models helped change British motoring from an elitist pastime to transport for the masses, and therefore hold an important place in automotive history.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
