Introduced in 1959, the MKII has long been Jaguar's best-loved saloon. Its combination of svelte good looks, strong performance and gentlemen's club interior has successfully charmed every passing generation. Based around a more sophisticated version of its MKI predecessor's monocoque it featured independent coil-and-wishbone front suspension and a leaf-sprung, 'live' rear axle. With plentiful power courtesy of the race-proven XK DOHC straight-six, all MKIIs were fitted with four-wheel disc brakes.
Finished in metallic sapphire blue with grey leather upholstery, this particular example is variously described by the vendor as being in "average" (3442cc engine, three-speed automatic transmission, electrical equipment, interior trim) or "good" (bodywork, paintwork, wheels / tyres) condition. Reportedly treated to some "significant work by a previous owner in 1999" which included a respray and unleaded fuel conversion, it is further said to benefit from power assisted steering and wire wheels.
