The Veloce Motor Company was set up in 1905 to produce motorcycles using the name 'Veloce' or 'VMC'. By 1925 the Velocette name had become established and after demands from their dealers, it was used on all future motorcycles. Always innovative, sporting success followed with the K series of overhead cam engines. The M series of overhead valve engines was launched in 1933 in order to cut production cost whilst retaining the firm's reputation for performance models.
This c1938 250 MOV has been heavily modified over the years for use as a sprinter. It sports a McCandlass style rear swinging arm conversion, Norton dolls head gearbox, Amal GP carb with a SU float chamber, Alfin barrel and Norton Roadholder forks. Set up to run on Methanol it was used in competition up until the last few years when the vendor could no longer get an ACU licence. Stood since then will need some recommissioning.
