The Lambretta TV175 Series 3 was launched in March 1962 and it was the first scooter supplied with an internal disc brake. It was a remarkable change from the previous TV175 Series 2 with new sleek slim styling. The front shock absorbers were enhanced with extra dampers as in the previous TV Series 2 models. The TV Series 3 also had larger silent blocks than the previous engines and it had a very good reputation as a smooth and well-balanced scooter with great handling attributes. The larger engined TV200 quickly followed the TV175 slim style in early 1963, at the specific request of the British importer Lambretta Concessionaires, who wanted an even more powerful model than the TV175 to satisfy their customer base. Genuine TV200 Lambrettas were instantly recognised as the GT200 to differentiate them from the TV175 models.

This extremely late example is, by all accounts, the last GT200 known to have been produced. Records by the Lambretta GT Owner’s Club stop at chassis 552776 from an October 1965 manufacturing date. In her ownership history she has never left the Coventry area. Sold originally by The Coventry motor company (The business still exists as a car dealer) to a Raymond Rogers, it went back to a dealer Prettons of Coventry in 1973 and was sold to a Martin Turley that year. Later sold to the previous keeper who owned the scooter from October 1977 and kept it for 46 years, before passing it to our vendor recently.

This is a standard GT200 with an original barrel and carburettor. She has all keys and is supplied with a very large number of bills for parts particularly MB Mark Broadhurst and Scooter Restorations. We observed many important original parts including the Noemi Rosa seat (with a good replacement cover). Other original parts observed: MPH speedometer, rear frame badge, disc brakes and panels throughout. At some time in the scooter’s life, the front mudguard was replaced with an Li type. There are photographs taken and supplied we are told circa 1980 which show the scooter already with this mudguard, probably replaced due to damage at that time. However, with a view to restoring the scooter, our vendor has acquired a very rare original fibreglass mudguard and this is offered with the machine. We are assured she will be in ‘running’ condition by the time of the auction, but are unable to confirm this at the time of consignment. She is supplied with some MOTs going back to 1980. With excellent patina, she could be used as is but we recommend a recommissioning throughout. A GT200 stated as such with first buff log book is a rare find in itself. To possess the whole history from new is even rarer. As the last ever known GT/TV200, it is sure to attract interest.
