  • Extremely original, including the paint
  • Rare Electronic version of the design icon by Bertone
  • Believed to be correct numbers or very close
  • V5 for immediate use on the road

The DL200 was the last of the great Lambretta scooters that rolled off Innocenti’s production line in Milan. Produced from January 1969 until April 1971 it is believed a total of only 9,350 DL/GP200s were made, and fewer than 1000 were the ‘Electronic’ version. The DL200 followed the SX200 and retained the engine prefix of SX200 before the serial number. The iconic bodywork followed the trends of the early 1970s. The Bertone design was more streamlined than its predecessors with a new 22/2 frame and rectangular headlight. There were, however, significant improvements to the engine over the SX including: improved crankshaft, a complete overhaul of the gearbox ratios and improved Ducati ignition. The Electronic version went even further, with a 6v electronic ignition and CDI unit, making them very collectible indeed. The only immediate noticeable difference between the DL and GP Electronics was that the DL did not have a battery tray and the leg shield badge differs.

This 1971 manufactured DL200 Electronic presents in an extremely original state. Imported in 2009, it wears the original Ochre (Yellow) with no evidence of ‘touching-up’ visible anywhere on the scooter. It has the 6v Red original specification CDI 323901 electrics with Black wire and the original electronic stator plate with correct fixings and retaining the correct Red HT lead to the CDI. The ignition switch with the original key are also believed to be the originals.

The panels are an excellent fit and the seat is thought to be the original Guiliari, with an additional protective extra cover. Cabling presents as if they have never been removed, all fastened with the correct straps and have the correct grease nipple points, even down to the concertina rubbers at the gearbox. The original KMH speedometer, however, has been replaced by what appears to be an original MPH speedo. The brake adjusters are the late short versions found on late GPs. Plastic parts are Black, as original, including the petrol flap (with the original plastic hinge pin), horncast, front and rear frame grille. There is also, the correct Black toolbox and thin rear light gasket. The keys are all present for ignition, toolbox and steering lock and are of the correct era and not reproductions.

In fact, many small details, that are often overlooked, are present. We have seen the scooter running at the time of consignment, starting easily and with bright headlights. A rare opportunity for the most serious collector of Lambrettas. Significantly original condition examples, such as this are in demand.
