Item: Dealer Banner
Date: c.1964
Origin: UK
The Lambretta dealers in the UK (concessionaires) were very much a success story and presented Innocenti with its largest export market. The sheer volume and ingenuity of the marketing effort was a key reason why Vespa was kept very much in the shadow of Lambretta from the ‘50s right through until Italian Lambrettas stopped rolling off the production line in the early 1970s.
Presented here is a genuine original single-sided dealer’s shop banner that was only distributed to dealers in Great Britain. Made in very small numbers, very few of these have survived. The date of release would be c.1964 probably as a promotion for the ‘Special’ range. The condition is reasonably good with no rips or tears. The wooden hanging bar has no damage and the wooden end caps and the rubbers are present, although one end cap has minor damage it does still function. There is a small amount of fraying on the bottom edge of the ornate embroidery which could be expected of a fragile item of this age. The size is 88cm by 69cm. Another genuine part of Lambretta history. Not a reproduction, it could represent a superb investment.
Collection from the auction by the following day 28th March 2024 or the item can be sent by courier anywhere in the world at post and packing cost.
