Retrospective Scooters of London have been perfecting a revolution over the last 5 years in maintaining the classic scooter ethos with ground-breaking electric vehicle technology. Described as ‘The Future’ on their website Retrospective have now achieved DVLA compliance and recognition for their professionally converted scooters. Powered by a strong 4kw QS motor this Classic EV is capable of 65mph and can have a range of 70 miles. Our consultant was able to test ride the scooter and was extremely impressed with the technology. The bespoke motor requires no modifications to the scooter frame. The 240v charger can be used anywhere with a standard domestic socket. With the on/off key fob you literally switch it on and then ‘twist and go’. There are a number of safety features including the clutch lever acting as an engine cut out. There is a display next to the fuel cap that indicates how much charge is left in the battery. There is no petrol to buy and no need for the physical effort of ‘kicking over’ the engine. It is also particularly suitable for riders with a disability who want to enjoy a classic Lambretta.
The Lambretta Series 2 is often referred to as the quintessential Lambretta with its beautiful styling. This particular model, beautifully painted in Grey and Black, retains the classic features but with modern technology that no other scooter can feature. It was commissioned from Retrospective Scooters by a customer who ordered the highest specification possible with a price tag in excess of £14,000. Using a genuine Italian Series 2 Li125, it was professionally painted and restored retaining as much originality in appearance as possible. In addition to silent and clean motoring, there are a number of impressive modern features. There are disc brakes front and back with the front being a reverse pull type. A SIP digital speedometer doubles as a clock. The lights are strong and bright. The motor can even be removed and a petrol engine reinstalled if necessary. The scooter comes with a one-year mechanical guarantee from Retrospective, from the date of the auction sale. This is an opportunity to buy an ‘as new’ up-to-the-minute EV classic at a discount of commissioning such a machine new and without the waiting list time. The legality on this particular scooter is that this can also be ridden as a learner, with the DVLA classifying it as equivalent to a 125cc.
