Registration No: SSY826
Chassis No: HBT7L/19086
MOT: September 2021
Supplied new to America, chassis HBT7L/19086 was repatriated in 1997. Reported to have covered approximately 4,500 miles since emerging from an extensive, photographically documented restoration a decade later, the Big Healey is variously described by the vendor’s agent as being in ‘good’ (paintwork), ‘very good’ (four-speed manual plus overdrive transmission, interior trim) or ‘excellent’ (bodywork, engine, electrical equipment) condition. Starting readily upon recent inspection, the 2+2-seater is said to ‘drive exceptionally well’. Offered for sale with V5C Registration Document, history file, Heritage Certificate and MOT certificate valid until September 2021.
Model Background:
Introduced in 1961, the MKII version of Austin-Healey's highly successful 3000 model was visually distinguished by its vertical radiator grille bars and revised front air intake. Sharing the same basic chassis design as its predecessor - independent front suspension, live rear axle and disc/drum brakes - it enjoyed superior performance thanks to the adoption of triple SU carburettors. Available in two-seater (BN7) or 2+2 (BT7) guises, it was fitted with wire wheels and adjustable front seats as standard while options included overdrive for its four-speed manual gearbox and a detachable hardtop roof.
