Lot details Registration No: SVO462L Chassis No: CR9390 Mot Expiry: Mar 2007
Announced late in 1968, the Triumph TR6 utilised the same basic chassis design as its TR5 and TR4A predecessors. Featuring all round independent coil-sprung suspension, disc / drum brakes and rack and pinion steering, it was powered by Triumph's acclaimed 2498cc straight-six engine. Mated to four-speed plus overdrive transmission, this torquey unit gave both spirited acceleration and relaxed cruising. A strong seller on both sides of the Atlantic thanks to its low slung, Kamm tail styling, the TR6 is regarded by many as the last of the true TR sportscars.
Finished in red with black vinyl upholstery, this particular example is variously described by the vendor as being in "1st class" (engine, gearbox, electrical equipment, interior trim, chassis, wheels / tyres) or "just below concours" (paintwork, bodywork) condition. Stated to have covered just 33,562 miles from new and thus be "very original", it is thought that the "only new parts fitted are a battery and stainless tubular manifold + exhaust system" (though, apparently the original cast iron manifold remains with the car). Believed to have covered "some 1,000 miles" since being treated to a new clutch by TR Enterprises approximately two years ago, this remarkable TR6 is offered for sale with a "box file of documentation (including past MOTs, invoices, tax discs, sales posters etc), full tonneau cover, heritage certificate" and fresh MOT certificate.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
