PLEASE NOTE: The rear prop shaft seal came off when the vendor was driving the car to the sale and two belts now need replacing which the vendor has sourced and are included in the sale. The vendor has stated a local garage can fix the seal and fit the belts for £150 which the vendor is happy to pay for and pay the transport to the garage or alternatively will give the successful buyer a credit for the £150.

H&H are indebted to te vendor for the following description:-

"Finished in rare Metallic Paris Blue with a Grey Connolly leather, this Ghia X Executive has the ultimate 2.8 fuel injection engine which brings with it the handling pack with improved suspension, lighter alloy wheels and a front spoiler. A Unicorn find, with only 4 previous owners prior to the vendor, the car was originally supplied by Endeavour Ford in Brighton on 12th November 1984 to Mr M Shoesmith. It later passed into the ownership of Granada Owner’s Club members Jason Blackford and Manny Gill. Mr Blackford doted on the Granada including a ‘bare metal’ repaint at the Ford main dealer, Malcolm Waite Ltd in 2014 (with all the trim removed), Mr Blackford also had the alloys refurbished in 2018 and took care of service items such as the exhaust.

Displaying some 98,800 miles, there is an extensive service history but typical of a 39 year old vehicle with some gaps. Up to 10 years old and 67,241 miles the history is fully stamped the restarts at 93,120 miles in 2011 then 95,430 miles in 2015. With the current vendor, the car has just had a money no object re-commissioning service, which included the correct fresh oil, oil, air and fuel filter, wiper blades, a new battery, spark plugs, brake fluid change, a gearbox service, anti-freeze has also benefitted from a new exhaust manifold, new ignition coil, replacement steering rack (2nd hand), replacement trip computer (2nd hand), repair internal boot release, and a replacement boot seal (2nd hand). Most inportantly the engine has been properly tuned and set up,with tappets reset, new rocker gaskets, and the tracking done 4 times until the vendot was happy.

In addition to the massive standard spec of the Ghia X Executive this car has genuine Ford rear spoiler and bumper mounted driving lights, the electric sunroof with has the hard to find deflector. Inside, it has a rare Granada Club dashboard cover, genuine Ford Granada front rubber mats, a working torch key plus 2 spare non-torch keys . The in-car entertainment is a modern Panasonic Radio CD, not the original Ford ECU1 radio/ cassette and the 4-way speaker joystick still works. The leather is described by the vendor as “good some ageing wear so the buyer has the choice of ‘patina’ or ‘re-connollise’ ”.

The vendor says:

“The central locking,4 electric windows, electric sunroof and electric seats work but like to be used regularly and most importally the air-conditioning works perfectly and is now re-gassed, so it’s ice cold like a modern car. The stereo, trip computer all other controls work. All the interior lights work bar the sun visor and one rear one. The electric mirrors don’t work electrically so that still needs doing. Under that Granada dash cover there are a couple of cracks in the top of the dash as appears to be standard on nearly every 80’s Ford’s. I’m really, really fussy and like everything to work on old cars as best I can so you'll benefit from this. It’s an extremely beautiful car, I won't say the "best in the world" as I haven't seen everybody else’s but it’s by far the best one I’ve ever seen since sitting in a brand new one at the 1984 Motor Show. I had to make a decision whether to keep it stashed as part of a bigger collection or sell now it’s running right to someone who will go to the Granada events/ motor shows etc with it and most of all use it regularly These top of the range cars are really the great bargain buy of 1980's Ford's with sporty Escorts and Sierra's fetching fortunes. For the estimateprice of this original car with good history you couldn't get close to restoring one to this standard! I know I've looked at all of them offered for sale over the last 6 years! ”

The Granada is 40 years old next year so it will shortly be eligible for Historic status (road tax and MOT exempt). With an MOT until August of 2024, it is accompanied by the original service book, handbook, trip computer manual and current V5c document . It's ready to be enjoyed as a beautiful, comfortable, well equppied classic car that is admired wherever it goes."
