The Ford Motor Company was quick to restore postwar production in the UK, with the first 4-cylinder Anglias and Prefects coming off the Dagenham production lines in 1945. Initially, identical to the prewar models, they were mildly restyled in 1949 and gained Consul-like, full-width bodies and McPherson suspension in 1954, although 1172cc side-valve engines were employed for a further five years. Meanwhile, the old Anglia with prewar styling was continued, though under the name Popular.
This Popular was manufactured in 1953 and was supplied new to the UK being first registered on the 25th of September that year. Fitted with the 933cc straight-four engine mated a manual gearbox transmission, the Ford was converted to a Pick-Up body style, which is thought to have been completed in approximately 2010 while in the previous custodianship. Finished in Pale Blue and Black paintwork, the Ford entered current ownership in 2012 and is now offered from a deceased estate as a stalled restoration project which has had much work completed already, although has been untouched for the last year. Accompanied by a current V5C.
