Subtly restyled for the 1928-model year, the Chevrolet National gained new, more rounded wings and a higher scuttle line. Based on a 107-inch wheelbase ladder-frame chassis equipped with all-round semi-elliptic leaf-sprung suspension and (for the first time on a Chevrolet) four-wheel drum brakes, it was powered by the marque's redoubtable 171ci (2.8 litre) OHV four-cylinder engine allied to three-speed manual transmission. Available in a variety of open and closed guises, the model boasted such niceties as a chassis lubrication system, indirectly lit instrument panel and thermostat.
Manufactured in 1928, the Chevrolet was reportedly supplied new to Australia in right-hand drive configuration. Bodied by Holden and fitted with the 2.8-litre engine with manual transmission, this example is finished in Green and Black with Black interior upholstery. Imported into the United Kingdom in 1998 and having only two UK keepers, ‘SV 7104’ entered the ownership of the deceased estate it is offered from today in 2012. Unused for a couple of years since the vendors passing, the Chevrolet will now require recommissioning before road use. An older restoration while residing in Australia, which was completed in approximately 1990-1992, the National Tourer is offered with a history file that comprises a selection of past MOTs dating back to 1998, paperwork relating to the importation and a current V5C.
