Norton was founded by James Lansdowne Norton in Birmingham in 1898 and began building motorcycles with French and Swiss engines in 1902. In 1907 a Norton with a Peugeot engine won the first Isle of Man TT race starting a long tradition of sporting excellence. The sporty ES2 was popular due to its reliability and ease of maintenance, as well as the traditional design. From 1947 the ES2 had innovative hydraulically damped 'Roadholder' front forks and from 1953 it had a single downtube swinging-arm frame.

This matching numbers bike was restored a few years ago and comes with a Norton Owners Club dating letter. A good authentic restoration it is supplied with some receipts for parts bought at the time and a workshop manual. The wheels have been rebuilt using stainless steel rims and spokes. The bike has been stored in a private collection for the last few years and so will need recommissioning before use. It comes supplied with a current V5C.
