The Honda Motor Company was founded by Soichiro Honda in 1937, initially producing piston rings for Toyota. They made their first motorcycle in 1949 and within 10 years had become the biggest motorcycle manufacturer in the world. They have gone on to produce over 400 million two-wheelers as well as millions of other power products. Honda forged their reputation in the early sixties with some incredible 4-stroke race bikes including the 50cc CR110, a double overhead cam single-cylinder that made 8.5hp at 13,500rpm.
Built in 1997/8 to commemorate Honda's successful 1962 CR110 single-cylinder racer, the Dream AC15 became instantly collectible. The short-lived production run was destined for the Japanese Domestic Market only. This particular example is immaculate with only 26 kilometers (17 miles) showing on the odometer. It is thought to have been first UK registered during March 2001 by a motorcycle shop that displayed it until 2005 when it is believed to have entered a private collection. The last MOT was on the 13th August 2013, still showing 26 km and as you can see, the bike looks almost as good as new with only some very slight aging marks on the spokes, some minor marks near top of the steering and a small mark on the rear r/h side of the fuel tank. The Honda comes complete with a brand new battery. Purchased by the vendor in March 2017, it has always been kept in a heated conservatory serving as a showpiece to the brilliance of Japanese engineering and will need some recommissioning before use.
