The Lotus Evora was based on the first all-new vehicle platform from Lotus Cars since the introduction of the Elise in 1995; of which the Exige introduced in 2000 and the 2006 Europa S are both derivatives. The Evora is the first product of a five-year plan starting in 2006 to expand the Lotus line-up beyond its track-specialised offerings with the aim of making the Evora a somewhat more practical road car that would appeal to the mainstream. As such it is a larger car than the recent Lotus’ with an estimated curb weight of 1,350kg. Featuring a 2+2 configuration initially, a two-seater configuration followed later. The cooled boot behind the engine is large enough to fit a set of golf clubs, although Lotus Design Head Russell Carr denied this was intentional. The name 'Evora' keeps the Lotus tradition of beginning model names with an 'E'.
Manufactured in 2009, the Evora offered was first registered in the United Kingdom on the 22nd of October that year and was registered new to Lotus Cars, with ‘AU59 DSE’ understood to have been employed as a press car. Fitted with the 3456cc V6 engine allied to the six-speed manual transmission, the Lotus is finished in Storm Titanium paintwork with Red and Black leather interior upholstery. In current registered ownership for five years, the Evora has had three former keepers (including Lotus Cars) and has covered a mere 48,200 miles from new (at the time of consignment). The Evora was specified from new with Alpine Hi-Fi with Sat-Nav, Alpine CD, MP3, and WMA receiver with iPod connection, chrome door handles, leather-trimmed gear knob and handbrake lever, and reversing camera. ‘AU59 DSE’ is offered with a history file that includes the original maintenance record book which displays nine stamps (all presented from main dealers and specialists), a collection of previous MOTs and invoices, a current V5C document, and two sets of keys. Intended purchasers should note that the Lotus has seen very little use over the last 3 years, and thus there is a vibration under braking but the vendor informs that the brake discs are not lipped and the pads have little wear.
