The original Mini was a revolution on wheels - offering iconic style and space for the masses. The fuel crisis beating 'people's car' that became a fashion icon, synonymous with Britain and the 'swinging '60s. The mechanical genius of the design placed the ubiquitous 'A-Series' engine transversely across the frame with the gearbox with its sump. A rubber cone suspension replaced springs, accentuating the 'go kart'-like handling and allowing for 80 percent of the floorpan to be used by passengers and their luggage.
During the Mini's 41 years of production, it was often revitalised with regular attractive special editions in limited numbers. The Mini Thirty was a gloriously well appointed celebration of 30 years of production and based upon the Mini Mayfair model. All powered by a 998cc version of the A-Series engine, 2000 Mini Thirty's were offered in the pretty Cherry Red and 1000 in the more sombre Black. All Mini Thirtys featured elegant half leather trim with Red piping and rode on the motorsport inspired Minilite-style wheels.
If you didn't manage to buy one of the 3000 produced at the time, this is an opportunity to own one of the prettiest limited editions of the iconic Mini. With just 25,462 miles and one owner from new, this delightfully original specification has been a cherished Cherry Red Mini Thirty. The vendor is in possession of many of the original documents and books and was last on the road in 2009. It will require recommissioning by its new keeper, who can delight in bringing one of these rare original specification limited editions back to the road for many more years of enjoyment.
