The GP150 was the last of the great Lambretta scooters that rolled off of Innocenti’s production line in Milan. The GP150 followed the SX range and retained the engine SX engine prefix before the serial number. They were produced from January 1969 until April 1971. There were, however, significant improvements to the engine over the SX including: improved crankshaft, a complete overhaul of the gearbox ratios and improved Ducati ignition. The iconic bodywork followed the trends of the day of the early 1970’s. The Bertone design was more streamlined than its predecessors with a new frame and rectangular headlight.
This GP150 is a very late example with correct Black plastic fuel flap, rear frame and horn cover grille. Also late type rectangular badges. It has correct Black plastic toolbox. It was sold to the vendor by Wildcat Scooters of Newport who have said it was taken in from a local man and was described as a one owner scooter from new. Our vendor has reverted to the Gwent County archives where the scooter is apparently still listed in order to attempt to retain the original registration number. If this arrives before the auction it will be supplied with the scooter or posted on to the buyer thereafter.
She is a standard GP150 still on 6v points, all original badges present and has in our opinion a superb original patina in every respect. We noted the original correct carburettor and original speedometer. The original dealer sticker (Ken Roberts Motorcycles) is still visible on the front of the leg shield. In our opinion an excellent original machine and we seldom see these unmolested British registered examples coming up for sale often these days.
