The story of the Volkswagen Beetle is like no other. Sixty-six years of production, over 21 million examples manufactured, factories on five continents, etc. The statistics are as staggering as the car's history. In 1933, Ferdinand Porsche was instructed to design and develop a 'Volkswagen' (People's Car) that was basic, affordable, and capable of transporting two adults and three children at up to 100kmh. The newcomer finally went into production in 1938 and, while it inevitably evolved over the years, the basic concept was never altered - an enduring tribute to the genius of Dr. Porsche.
Manufactured in 1970, this Beetle was supplied new to the United Kingdom in right-hand drive, being registered here on the 10th June that year, having been supplied new via C Cameron of Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire. Fitted with the 1493cc four-cylinder engine allied to the four-speed manual transmission, ‘YTC 120H’ is finished in White paintwork with Black vinyl interior upholstery. In current registered ownership since 2009 and showing just one former keeper from new, the Beetle has covered only 48,962 miles from new (at time of consignment) and is pleasingly presented in original specification and is still displaying its original rear window dealer sticker. Offered with a large history file that includes the original accompanying books including stamped service book displaying sixteen stamps (all from C Cameron, albeit with a few slight trading name changes over the years). The history file also includes a selection of previous invoices, several past MOT certificates, and a V5 document. Please note; the engine bay heater hoses will be refitted in time for sale.
