For many people, the E-Type remains the ultimate production Jaguar. A car whose heady blend of styling and performance were so exceptional at its 1961 Geneva Motor Show launch they continue to cast a smooth, elliptical shadow over the marque's new sports cars some 55 years later. Never officially referred to as such by Jaguar, the so-called 'Series 1.5' cars appeared in late 1967. With its flowing lines and wonderful 4,235cc 6-cylinder overhead camshaft engine, the 'Series 1.5' Jaguar E-Type fixed-head coupe has to be one of the finest sporting cars of its era. 1 of just 374 home market examples ‘ULU540F’ is finished in Dark Blue, its original colour on the date of despatch on the 19^th December 1967 to its original distributor Henly’s of London. Supplied new to a Mr Simpson of Sunderland its understood the E-Type has had just 4 former keeper with current ownership since 2006. Subject to new sills, floors, boot floor, doors, lower front panel and new painted wire wheels in the current vendors ownership ‘ULU540F’ has some sensible upgrades such as a Kenlowe fan, high torque starter motor and electronic ignition. Offered with a large collection of invoices, old MOT certificates, Heritage Certificate, old Tax discs and a letter from the first owner the vendor currently classes the engine, gearbox, interior trim, electrical equipment, bodywork as ‘Good’ with the paintwork as ‘Average/Good’.
