Velocette motorcycles were made by Veloce Ltd in Hall Green, Birmingham between 1904 and 1971. Renowned for the quality of its products, the company was "always in the picture" in international motorcycle racing, culminating in two 350cc World Championship titles and its legendary, and still-unbeaten, record of averaging over 100mph for 24 hours on a 500cc single cylinder machine. This was achieved on a Venom in 1961 cementing its reputation as one of the best sports bikes of its day.
This Venom special was specially built and tuned by Geoff Dodkin in 1967. Owned by Geoff Dodkin from new and the current owner since 1969. The specification consists of a fully balanced crank, lightened and polished conrod and rockers, BTH magento and a 2" induction port, rearsets, alloy rims, rev counter, a chrome headlight, and much more. Owned and loved by the late vendor, it will need to be recommissioned before use as it does not turn over. Offered here with a V5, old continuation RF60 and receipt for work carried out.
