Lot details

  • Imported to the UK in August 2010 and initially road registered as 'N5 ATO'
  • Understood to have covered some 84,000 miles from new
  • 4-litre V6, 5-speed manual, body-kit

Introduced at the 2004 North American International Auto Show for the following model year, the fifth generation (‘S197’) Mustang deliberately echoed the styling of its late 1960s forebears. Cited by Ford’s senior vice president of design, J. Mays, as an exemplar of ‘retro-futurism’, the newcomer did not want for visual drama. Developed under the watch of Hau Thai-Tang, a veteran of Ford’s IndyCar programme, the ‘S197’ was based around a monocoque bodyshell equipped with independent front suspension, rack and pinion steering, disc brakes and a three-link ‘live’ rear axle. Performance remained a Mustang strength with even the humblest variant being powered by a 4-litre SOHC V6 engine allied to either five-speed manual or automatic transmission. With some 210bhp and 240lbft of torque on tap, the ‘stick shift’ variant was reputedly capable of 0-60mph in 6.9 seconds and 139mph.

Finished in ‘North American’ racing colours of Dark Blue with White stripes, this left-hand drive example was imported to the UK in August 2010 and first road registered on these shores as ‘N5 ATO’. Acquiring its current ‘MU06 BAD’ number plate a few months later, the Ford sports a front air dam, vented bonnet, rear spoiler and side skirts which all add to its undeniable road presence. Powered by a 4-litre SOHC V6 engine allied to five-speed Tnemec manual transmission, the Mustang rides on five-spoke alloy wheels. Understood to have covered some 84,000 miles from new, the 2+2-seater is trimmed in Black leather. Surely hard to beat in terms of ‘flash for the cash’, this brooding fifth-generation Mustang is described by the vendor as being in ‘good overall’ condition with regards to its engine, gearbox, electrical equipment, interior trim, bodywork and paintwork. Offered for sale with V5C Registration Document and assorted paperwork.
