At the start of the First World War in 1914 the British Government needed effective communications with front line troops and replaced messengers on horses with motorcycles. A number of models were tested, the Triumph Model H was selected. The Model H was fitted with a 499cc air-cooled four-stroke single-cylinder engine. It was also the first Triumph not to be fitted with pedals, so was a true motorcycle.
This 1913 Triumph Model H was purchased by the current vendor in 2008. He has used it on many VMCC events including the Pioneer run. Restored approximately 17 years ago and has now mellowed with age. The current vendor took it off the road to replace the magneto, but sadly due to other commitments has not had the time to refit it. It comes with its magento, sprockets, chain, and timing cover. This may be fitted before the sale if the vendor has time. An ideal veteran machine once recommissioned for the road. We have been advised that the engine is 1913 and the frame is 1914, it comes complete with a pioneer certificate and current V5C.
