The Honda Motor Company was founded by Soichiro Honda in 1937, initially producing piston rings for Toyota. They made their first motorcycle in 1949 and within 10 years had become the biggest producer in the world. They have gone on to manufacture over 400 million two-wheelers as well as millions of other power products. Sticking close to their four-stroke roots Honda's entry into the 1970s sixteen special class used the classic horizontal OHC engine layout in a sporty slimline frame with its distinctive upswept exhaust and long narrow tank.
This SS50 has been stored in a heated garage as part of a large private collection of the 70s/80s classics and has been subject to an excellent restoration, keeping many of its original features including the stylish upswept 'HM-SS50Z' exhaust and is fitted with a 2:4 sports seat. The engine turns over and gears select but it has been stood for a number of years so will need some recommissioning before use.
