'More than a car, more than a truck', 'A double-duty beauty!' - these were the taglines that Ford used to promote its Ranchero, produced from 1957-1979 as a luxury utility vehicle, with car-derived styling and trim (Ford Torino). Rancheros were built on various chassis over the years, with a total production of 508,355 units.
1 of just 371 Ranchero GT 390s produced, chassis 8K49Y197503 was ordered on the 4th of April 1968. Manufactured at the Kanas City plant, it was finished from the factory in the attractive colour combination of Tahoe Turquoise paintwork with complementary Parchment vinyl bucket style seats, 1 of just 2 examples produced to this colour configuration. Supplied new by Ford dealer Ghent Motor Company of Fort Collins, Northern Colorado and was provided with the optional extras of white wall tyres, power steering, air conditioning, AM radio and tinted glass and costing $3,998.36. Subject to a comprehensive restoration some 15 years ago while still residing in the United States of America, the Ranchero arrived on British shores in 2018 and has been in current ownership since 2020. Provided with a full Marti Report and a current V5C document, 'FMA 682F' is very rare in this specification and is not only an interesting but a very practical classic!
