When new, a Fiat 2300S coupe was almost twice the price of an E Type Jaguar 4.2 fixed head, hence the Fiat was always going to be an exclusive exotic. One of the reasons for the high price was that 2300S bodywork was hand-crafted by the craftsmen at Ghia of Turin, whilst the good looking Italian was actually no sluggard on the road, the 2.3-litre six producing a very useful commendable 150bhp at 5600rpm and a top speed potential of up to 120mph. The righthand drive export version was even rarer than the home market model - indeed, according to the vendor, it is likely that just three other RHD cars such as this one remain in the UK.
The 2300S being offered here today has been subjected to an extensive renovation, which, we understand, is as yet not fully completed. The present owner reports that bodywork, paint, engine and transmission are all good, though the interior is only fair and the carpets poor. The indicated mileage of 26,536 miles when entered for this sale is thought to be the total number of miles that the car has been driven from new in 1967. We understand that a fresh MOT Test pass certificate is on file.
Attractively styled with plenty of go and certainly unusual, that’s the Fiat 2300S - and this one is an interesting project that is surely worthy of your consideration.
