Delivered new by Renault dealer Old Oak Motor Co of Enfield, Middlesex on the 13th of August 1968 to its first owner, a Mr Charles Vick. According to the original sales invoice contained within the history file with many period brochures and literature, Mr Vick traded in his 1960 Singer Gazelle for the new Renault and was charged £1,139 with a deduction of £175 for the Singer. Having had the car registered in his wife’s name, Mr Vick kept the 16TS until his death in 1984 after which it passed into the hands of his daughter. With the doors still covered in the protective plastic sheeting and the mats carefully protected by overmats, the car, which up till then had only covered 35,495 miles with fully stamped service booklet, even came with a handwritten log of all the servicing, fuel stops and journeys undertaken.
In 2000, the Renault was put into storage after which it was sold in 2005. After having been displayed at the 2015 NEC Classic Motor Show and featuring in Classic & Sportscar Magazine that same year, the 16TS underwent some minor body restoration in 2019 with a refurbishment of the engine compartment being undertaken two years later. Still presenting exceptionally well, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a Renault 16TS which has led a pampered life and is offered with a comprehensive History File containing a collection of invoices and brochures together with a parts catalogue and a workshop manual.
