Triumph is one of the most iconic and revered names in the history of motorcycling. Established in Coventry in 1885, by the start of the 1900s the company had made their first motorcycle beginning a continuous run of production under various ownership until its eventual closure in 1983. In 1937 the Edward Turner designed Speed Twin was released launching a range of Triumph twins that went on to epitomize British motorcycles in the post-war years. The Bonneville name, first used to commemorate Jonny Allens speed records at Bonneville Salt Flats, is probably the most evocative of the era and was always placed on Triumphs best performing bikes.
This T140 Bonnie has been part of a small private collection for a number of years and is offered in excellent original condition with only the wheels having been rebuilt using new rims and spokes. The bike was first registered on the 1st of July 1982 so must be one of the later examples manufactured in the original Meridan factory before its closure in 1983. Stood for a few years it will need some recommissioning before use, currently fitted with K&N air filters, the original airbox is included in the sale together with a few spares including a front tyre and repair kits for the brakes that are in need of servicing. It comes supplied with a current V5C and a Haynes workshop manual.
