Ford launched its new big executive saloon in 1972 to replace the Zephyr MkIV; top versions were badged Consul until 1975, when all versions took the name Granada. With all-round independent suspension and an impressive choice of trim options and engines, it was marketed clearly as a competitor to BMW's large 3-litre E3 and later E12 saloons. A 'MkII' square-edged reskin in 1977 sharpened up the looks in keeping with fashion, and at the same time the 'Cologne' 2.8 litre V6 engine became the top engine option, replacing the 3-litre Essex, since all cars were by then built in Germany. The well-respected Granada was used as the basis for Dorchester limousines by Coleman Milne and hearses by Woodall Nicholson. Coleman Milne had been founded by John Coleman and Roderick Milne in 1953, at first specialising in vehicle body repairs and horse boxes, but quickly finding a niche in using those skills to create limousines and funeral hearses.

The vendor describes this Dorchester six-seater limousine as being in "good" condition with regard to its 2.8 litre V6 engine, three-speed automatic transmission, electrical equipment, interior trim, bodywork and paintwork. Noting that the offside rear wheelarch needs a little attention, he adds: "The car is in very good condition for the year and has always been garaged undercover but has become a little dated for wedding work. It has never given any trouble engine-wise, does not use oil and drives very well". An intriguing spin on the increasingly popular MkII Granada, this Coleman Milne stretched limousine is offered for sale with MOT certificate valid until March 2011.
