Honda introduced a new two fifty twin in 1967, following it in 1968 with what was to become one of their most successful models, the CB350, by 1971 was the worlds best selling motorcycle. The new machine adopted a single downtube frame with two tubes running under the engine which it shared with the virtually identical CB250 introduced the previous year. At the end of 1968 Honda unveiled a production racer derived from the new machine at the Tokyo Show. Typed the CYB350RSC the claimed a power output of 53bhp at 10,000rpm ensured that the machine would be competitive against its British and Italian rivals. Although some complete machines were offered for sale, Honda's primary intention was to offer the components as part of "race kit" enabling the conversion of the standard road going CB350 into a racer. The kit of parts included a revised set of gears for the standard machines five speed gearbox, Ferodo racing linings for the brakes, alloy rims, racing bodywork including a fairing and new mudguards, a new cylinder head offering a higher compression ratio in combination with the special pistons included and better breathing thanks to polished ports together with a polished and lightened crankshaft assembly, a pair of Keihin carburettors, a matt black exhaust system with megaphones, and controls. Machines fitted with the race kit met with a considerable amount of success and in recent years have provided the inspiration for a host of machines built for and competing successfully in classic racing.
According to the vendor the machine offered is equipped with an original Honda race kit endowing it with excellent performance. Attractively presented in black it is fitted with a racing Yamaha front brake and is offered with an original parts list for the "race kit".
